Our February AABA meeting will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2018, 7:00-9:00 PM at Arlington Echo.

Elections

Club Elections are held annually at our February Meeting.  We currently have two open positions. If you like photography, maybe you could help add spice to our Facebook, Twitter, and website pages with your photos of club events! If you like money (who doesn’t), we’re also looking for a new Treasurer. Debbie Hewitt, our current Treasurer, will be able to help you transition to the new role. She will remain active in the club as our Beekeeping Short Course Coordinator.

Visit our AABA Elections 2018 page for details on all the volunteer positions available and the current slate of candidates.

Program

Our speaker for our February meeting will be Kelly Kulhanek of the Sentinel Apiary Program.

Kelly Kulhanek’s path to honey bees began by studying native bees as a research assistant in Claire Kremen’s lab at UC Berkeley. She then spent a field season with the USGS in North Dakota studying honeybee health and landscape change and became completely hooked on honey bees.

She is currently working on her PhD in the vanEngelsdorp Bee Lab at the University of Maryland studying honey bee health and management practices on a nationwide scale through the Sentinel Apiary Project. She works with the Bee Informed Partnership Team and beekeepers to make a lasting impact on the ways we manage and support honey bees and agriculture.

Meeting Location

The meeting will held in the main building at the Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center. Hope to see you there!
